The “International Search and Rescue Advisory Group’’ (INSARAG) First Responder Basic Urban Search and Rescue Training Course was conducted from 19th Sep 2022 to 28th Sep 2022 at the Center for Disaster Response Training. The proceedings were started with the opening remarks by Colonel CP Wickramarathne RSP USP Commandant Center for Disaster Response Training Atabage Gampola. The course was organized by the Disaster Management Center and the closing Ceremony was held on 28th Sep 2022 under the supervision of Commandant Colonel CP Wickramarathne RSP USP. The consolidation exercise of INSARAG First Responder Basic Urban Search and Rescue Training Course was conducted at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) on 28th Sep 2022 at the exercise area Kotmale reservoir. The consolidation exercise consists with Landslide Rescue Operation and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Operation. Above mentioned scenarios were demonstrated by the students successfully, applying the theoretical & practical knowledge of the course.
On the same day the certificate awarding ceremony of the course was held at Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training. Brigadier WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP Director Operation Disaster Management Centre joined through the zoom technology and shared his expertise views on the subject at the ceremony. The course was concluded with the closing remarks by Colonel CP Wickramarathne RSP USP the Commandant - SLACDRT.
