VISIT OF CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF COMD OF THE ARMY TO SLACDRT – GAMPOLA ON 22 NOV 2020

The final exercise 'Exercise Lending Hand' commenced with course attendees of Basic Disaster Response Course No - 7 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) on 22 Nov 2020 in the general area Kotmale reservoir at the end of their 40 days training periods. Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in this remarkable occasion.

The Exercise “Lending Hand “ consists with Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Landslide Rescue Operations, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) operations, Water Rescue Exercise and Camp Management activities. Above mentioned scenarios were demonstrated by the students in the presence of a large gathering of Senior Officers, including Major General HPNK Jayapathirana RSP Comd SFHQ (Cen), Major General BPS de Silva DGGS AHQ and Comd ARTRAC, Major General HP Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc DG Ops, Major General API Fernando RWP USP GOC 58 Inf Div, Major General IHMNN Herath RSP USP psc DG Trg AHQ, Major General SUMN Manage WWV RWP RSP psc GOC 53 Inf Div, Bde Comds, COs, Snr Offrs, Offrs and Other Ranks. Further Mrs RADTM Thennakoon AGA Uda Palatha Gampola and Mr URSS Senarathne SSP Gampola also attended for the occasion.

At the same time the Chief Guest launched the SLACDRT website https://alt.army.lk/slacdrt/ after the video documentary of role and tasks of the SLACDRT was screened.

The day’s chief guest was welcomed by on his arrival with a drive pass salute at SLACDRT main entrance.
