On the sheer guidance of Commander Security Force Central, Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Security Force Headquarters (Central) organized three-days Clinical Counselling Workshop for the officers and other ranks based under the formation. A number of 45 participants from the headquarters and its affiliated battalions and establishments participated in the professional counselling workshop conducted by Specialist Psychiatrist Brigadier RMM Monaragala USP and his team from Army Hospital Colombo.
During the workshop, held from 22 to 24 August 2023 at Diyatalawa, the participants were educated on counselling skills, mental health issues and psychosocial management with practical sessions. At the certificate awarding held on 24 August, the security force commander highlighted the intended outcomes of the workshop that would positively benefit the troops in resolving their mental health issues and psychosocial management through effective counselling. Further, the commander made satisfactory comments on the lecturers for their fruitful efforts to form small counselling groups in each establishment, aiming to reach the objectives of clinical counselling. The participants were guided to create a counselling cell in their serving destinations and help the army personnel to solve and manage psychosocial issues, and practice what they learnt from the workshop.
