SECURITY FORCE COMMANDER VISITS HISTORIC CITY OF KANDY

Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc who recently assumed duties as Commander Security Force (Central) made a visit to Kandy, the significant city of Central Province, from 12 to 17 August 2023.

During his visit to the historic city of Kandy, he paid obeisance to the Mahanayake Thero of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana Mahanayaka Thero on 12 August. Subsequently, the senior officer paid a call on the Mahanayake Thero of Malwatte Chapter, Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayaka Thero at the Malwatte monastery, on 15 August. In the visit, the commander had an opportunity to interact with Anu Nayaka theros of the Malwatta Chapter Venerable Dimbulkumbure Sri Saranankara Wimaladhamma Thera and Venerable Dr. Niyangoda Dharmakeerthi Sri Sangarakkitha Vijithasiri Thero. The chief prelates invoked blessings on the new appointment and wished the new Security Force Commander have strength to protect the country in the future and continue the Army’s good work.

After paying homage to prominent temples in Kandy, the senior officer met Hon. Lalith U. Gamage the Governor of Central Province and made the first courtesy call in his capacity as a security force commander, on 16 August. Finally he made obeisance to the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) in Kandy on 17 August and made courtesy call on the Chief Lay Custodian of Sri Dalada Maligawa Mr. Pradeep Nilanga Dela.
