MILITARY PERSONNEL WERE EDUCATED ON GROWING HYDRANGEA FLOWERS IN DIYATALAWA GARRISON CITY

In accordance with a concept of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, an introductory programme on growing Hydrangea Flowers was conducted at the proposed Army Welfare Shop premises in Diyatalawa. Under the guidance and supervision of Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, this programme was conducted by the representatives of Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited on 19 January 2021.

Moreover, growing Hydrangea Flowers in and around the garrison town of Diyatalawa was a brainchild of the president of Seva Vanitha Unit of Sri Lanka Army, Mrs Sujeewa Nelson. During the visit to Diyatalawa area on 19 December 2020, the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army as well as the President Seva Vanitha Unit, proposed to plant Hydrangea Flowers to widen the beauty of the garrison city.

Accordingly, the General Manager and the Product Manager of Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited Mr Arjuna Balasuriya and Mr Udaya Priyadarshana respectively conducted this programme. The Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Brigadier T M G G S Thennakoon RSP welcomed the representatives of Hayleys Company. Further, the Officers and Other Ranks of under command formations participated in this programme.
