MILITARY PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN A TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME
Planting trees is an utmost important task in the present context due to the pollution which is a consequence of the activities of human beings. As a precaution for this threat, trees which have a great value should be planted. Accordingly, military personnel of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) assisted the civil authorities to plant trees to protect the nature.
As the first stage of this tree planting programme 50 Jak trees were distributed among the under command formations of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) on 21 July 2018. The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG, also participated in this programme held at Bandarawelalong with Govt officials and officers of SFHQ (Cen).
Hadabima Authority of Sri Lanka, organized this important programme in conjunction with the SL Army. Accordingly, this authority provided the Jak plants to the military establishments expecting Protecting a looking after these trees until it grow well. Further, it is scheduled to distribute 5000 Jak trees within the Security Forces (Central) at the second stage of this programme in near future.
