"Punarudaya" National Programme for environmental conservation, with the view of creating a sustainable environment in Sri Lanka, introduced under the guidance of Presidential Secretariat, received an impressive stimulus when Badulla District Secretariat, Haputhale Divisional Secretariat together with Security Force Headquarters (Central) launched a tree planting programme in coordination with Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka in Bingethenna area - Diyatalawa on 24 November 2016.
On a request of Mr. KBAMS Abykoon, Divisional Secretary - Haputale from Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, Commander, Security Forces (Central), troops serving under command formations of Security Force Headquarters (Central) rendered assistance to the conduct of the programme.
Ven. Ellewela Sobitha Thero, an incumbent of Vimalagiri Temple in Manikkanda conducted religious observances and Divisional Secretary - Haputale delivered the opening address of the programme.
Afterward initiating the tree planting, Commander Security Forces (Central) planted a sapling and around 500 saplings were planted by the senior officers, other officers and other ranks, who took part in the event.
