TROOPS CONDUCTED A PROGRAMME TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT.

Rehearsals for Disaster management as well as relief operations have been carried out on 14 September 2018 inBoralanda area in Welimada Divisional Secretariat which is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) aiming to face the forthcoming rainy season.

According to the instructions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndcpsc IG, this timely programme was conducted in conjunction with the Disaster Management Centre, Badulla. Representing the headquarters of Security Forces (Central), General Staff Officer 1, Lieutenant Colonel B A S S D Bulathgama and 16 other ranks participated in this programme. Further, the Director Preparednessof Disaster Management Center Mr Sunil Jayaweera and Assistant Director of Disaster Management Center (Uva Province)MrUdaya Kumara were also present at this programme. In addition, representatives of Sri Lanka Police, the doctors of Boralanda Hospital and the civilians of the area also contributed this programme in order to make it a success.
