SLTB BUILDING (OLD GARMENT BUILDING) IN BADULLA TURNED IN TO AN ICC

In the view of responding to the sudden emergence of new positive cases of COVID-19 in relation to the 3rd wave while strengthening the capacity of the health care system, the land of old garment building owned by Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Bus Depot - Badulla was recently improvised as an Intermediate Care Center (ICC). This ICC is expected to accommodate 260 patients (260-Beds) at any given time in addition to Bindunuwewa (220-Beds) and Kahagolla (240-Beds) ICCs in Badulla District to meet the emerging health care demands of UVA Province.

112 Infantry Brigade troops extended their restless support for the construction in order to facilitate essential requirements of the medical staff and operational mechanism at the ICC prior to the commencement of treatment with the support of the Chief Secretary and Staff of Uva Provincial Council, Provincial Political Leaders and Authorities, Municipal Council - Badulla, Government Agent and Staff of District Secretariat - Badulla, Regional Manager and Staff of SLTB Bus Depot - Badulla by extending the premises and Health Sector Staff - Badulla. The ICC consists with essential accommodation, medical, hygienic and entertainment (multimedia) facilities for patients.

The ICC was handed over to health authorities by the Commander Security Forces - Central, Major General Ranjan Lamahewage RWP RSP ndu on 23 May 2021. This ICC conversion process was carried out with the cooperation of Major General Kithsiri Liyanage RWP RSP ndu - General Officer Commanding 11 Infantry Division and Brigadier Anura Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP - Commander 112 Infantry Brigade. Chief Secretary Uva Provincial Council - Mr. P B Wijerathne, Additional government Agent - Mr. W M R Ranjith, Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) - Dr. Hemantha De Silva, Specialist in Public Health - Dr. Nimal Gamagedara, Regional Manager of SLTB Bus Depot Badulla - Mr. Liyanage were present on the occasion.
