SF HQ (CENTRAL) CONTRIBUTES TO ''WANAROPA'' NATIONAL TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME

‘Ranaviru Haritha Arana,’ the exclusively designed tree-planting project for tri-service and Police personnel under the ongoing National Tree Planting Campaign, ‘Wanaropa’, introduced by HE the President, received an impressive stimulus when the Security Force Headquarters (Central) launched its programme in line with the Sri Lanka Army by planting tree-saplings at the Kaluambathenna Farm in Diyatalawa, which belongs to Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, by Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Central) on 21 October 2016.

A total of 3887 saplings of teak, mee, pihimbiya, mahogany, kumbuk, jack, ebony, ehela, kaaya, milla, thimbiri, margosa, tamarind, naa, rambutan, domba, duriyan, maara, nedun, coffee, etc were planted in the farm area by the senior officers, other officers and other ranks, who took part in the event.

Giving a brief idea about the programme, Major General Upul Vithanage emphasized the importance of minimizing the damage caused to the environment.
