Security Forces Headquarters (Central), in parallel with the main ceremony at the Army Headquarters began the 1st working day of the New Year, on 2nd January 2017 at Security Force Headquarters, Diyatalawa, with the participation of Major General P U S Vithanage RSP ndu, the commander Security Forces (Central).
After hoisting the national and the Army flags, National Anthem and the Army song were sung at the beginning of the day's event followed by one minute observance of silence to remember fallen War Heroes and the state service commitment pledge was read by Brig N k Wadugodapitiya, Brigadier General Staff of security Force Headquarters (central).
In addition to that Commander Security Force (Central) presented the New Year - 2017 message to troops in accordance with the formalities. Afterwards the Commander Security Forces, together with Senior Officers visited the army Base Hospital, Diyatalawa and distributed some gift parcels among soldiers who undergo treatments and shared seasonal compliments with them.
