The National War Heroes’ Memorial Day of Central Province was celebrated on 14 May 2019 from 0900 hours to 1130 hours at the War Heroes Memorial in Mailapitiya with the participation of the Governor of Central Province, President’s Counsel Mithri Gunarathne. The family members of the fallen war heroes also took part in the commemoration ceremony to pay the floral tribute.
The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Vaduge RWP RSP USP ndu also graced the occasion along with Brigadier H M S Herath, the in Charge of Projects at 11 Division, Colonel W B W M Aluvihare RWP RSP, the Brigade Commander of 111 Brigade and other senior officers as well as other ranks at 111 Brigade. Further, the Officers representing Navy, Air Force and Police as well as the State Workers of the Central Province and school children also participated in this event to pay tribute.
