MONERAGALA CHILDREN TAKE PART IN ARMY-CONDUCTED WORKSHOP ON PERSONALITY AND ATTITUDE DEVELOPMENT

On a request made by the Divisional Secretariat – Monaragala from the Commander of the Army, a programme to enhance the leadership, personality and attitudes of the children was conducted for 60 children, who are representing children’s society formed by Department of Probation and Child Care Services in Monaragala District in parallel with World Children's Day - 2016 with the consent of the Commander of the Army and on the directions of Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu Commander Security Forces (Central) on 31 October and on 01 November 2016 at the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS).

10 Probation Officers attended the opening address of the workshop, which was conducted by the Commanding Officer - VFTS Lieutenant Colonel BMRJ Bandara of Vijayaba Infantry Regiment. The General Staff Officer 1 (Coordination) of the Security Force Headquarters (Central) Lieutenant Colonel HDJP Weerathunga of Sri Lanka Signal Corps and the Officers and nominated Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Others Ranks as instructors attended the programme.

During the programme, children were educated on personality development and the attitude change by enhancing leadership qualities by using theories and activities.

The workshop was conducted entire two days at the VFTS camp premises and the closing address of the programme was conducted by Commanding Officer - VFTS Lieutenant Colonel BMRJ Bandara. Awarding of certificates to the participant children culminated the workshop in the evening hours on 01 November 2016.
