A programme was launched in the Kandy district with the instructions of the Commander of the Army in order to remove the debris of damaged buildings during the unrest situation occurred due to a communal tension in certain areas of the district. In accordance with the instructions of the Commander of the Army, on 30 March 2018 a programme was commenced with the supervision of Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division.
Accordingly, 1 officer and 25 soldiers from 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (1 SLRC) cleaned 4th mile post area (Wathuwala) located on the Katugasthota – Kurunegala road in the Kandy district by removing debris of 8 damaged shops and 3 houses. Further, the state workers of the Harispattuwa Pradeshiya Saba, Divisional Secretariat Office of Harispattuwa along with the civilians of the area participated in this programme.
