A programme was launched in Kandy district by the instructions of the Commander of the Army in order to remove debris of damaged buildings during the unrest situation occurred due to communal tension in some areas of the district. Programme was launched on 28 March 2018 Under the direct the supervision of General Officer Commanding of 11 Division Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc.
Accordingly, 4 officers and 150 soldiers from 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (5 (V) SLLI), 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (2 (V) SLSR), 1 and 2 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (1 SLRC and 2 SLRC ) employed for the task. They Further, Mrs S D Nagahathenna, the Divisional Secretary of Kundasale Divisional Secretariat also participated in this programme along with state workers and civilians of the area.
