MILITARY PERSONNEL AND PARENTS WERE LECTURED ON AVOIDING DEPRESSION

A series of lectures have been conducted on Depression and how it cause to commit suicide by the Psychological Counselors and Doctors at CIIHE on 28, 29, 30 October 2019 at Torch Cinema Hall of Sri Lanka Military Academy, Divisional Secretariat- Diyatalawa, Municipal Council- Bandarawela and Divisional Secretariat- Bandarawela respectively. In accordance with the directions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the supervision of the Chief Civil Coordinating Officer of the Security Force (Central), Lieutenant Colonel W R M P Wijesundara of Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps.

The motive of this lecture was to make aware the military personnel and parents of preschool children on depression which transforms the persons even to commit suicide since they could not understand the real situation which they are in. Further, the lecturers emphasized that the persons tend to select the committing suicide as the best option for certain unbearable circumstances and this decision is totally based on disappointment and the depression. Avoiding such circumstances, understanding of the problem and face it confidently would be the solutions for these.

These timely lectures were conducted by Miss Methmali Munasinghe, Miss Saumya, Mr Niranjan Medawala and Dr Lasantha Wijesekare from Colombo International Institute of Higher Education (CIIHE).
