Military assistance given for a reforestation programme which was conducted at the catchment area of Samanalawewa Hydroelectric Power Plant located in Balangoda area on 07 and 08 December 2017. Responding to the request made by the Ceylon Electricity Board, one officer and 32 soldiers provided the assistance in conjunction with the staff of the Electricity Board.
Moreover, senior officers along with the Colonel General Staff of Security Forces (Central), Colonel C S Munasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP psc IG participated in this tree planting programme. Chief Engineer of Samanalawewa Project Mr H Ambepitiya, and few more officials from Ceylon Electricity Board participated in where saplings of 200 Kithul, 200 Cane, 500 Mee, 100 Coral, 250 Ebony and 25 various indigenous herbs were planted.
