Security Force Headquarters (Central) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) based in Colombo coordinated a two-days workshop to widen knowledge of Officers on latest developments of International Humanitarian Law and the ICRC role. The workshop was held in the premises of Headquarters, participated a number of 38 Officers that included Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers and Battalion Commanders of Security Force (Central), on 16th and 17th November 2022.
The delegation from ICRC was headed by Mr. Channa Jayawardena, program adviser and few foreign lecturers conducted the workshop by sharing their expertise and experiences in diversified areas such as the ICRC Role, Mandate and activities in Sri Lanka, International Law, Transition from IHL to IHRL, Human Rights and Law Enforcement Powers, Basic principles, Arrest/Detention and Search/Seizure, Use of force and firearms, Case Studies and Group discussions, etc.
