Under the leadership of Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and Major General MPKL Amarasinghe WWV RWP RSP ndc Commander of the 12 Infantry Division and under the supervision of Brigadier MHSP Senarathne RSP Commander of the 122 Infantry Brigade, a military-led charitable initiative was successfully conducted on 3 January 2026 at H/Weerawila Maha Vidyalaya and H/Abhayapura Suranimala Primary School.
The programme was coordinated by Brigadier BDTD Jayarathne psc Commander of the 521 Infantry Brigade, with the generous sponsorship of Hatton National Bank. As part of this initiative, a total of 496 school stationery packs were distributed among students in the Lunugamwehera area and children of civil servants attached to the 122 Infantry Brigade.
The beneficiaries included 166 students from H/Weerawila Maha Vidyalaya, 95 students from H/Athunadawela Primary School, 81 students from H/Kudagammana 3 Primary School, 68 students from H/Abhayapura Suranimala Primary School, and 71 students from H/Weherapelessa Primary School. The distribution was carried out under the coordination of personnel from the 12 Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment and the 3 Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard.
The programme, conducted at H/Weerawila Maha Vidyalaya and H/Abhayapura Suranimala Primary School with participation of officials from Hatton National bank, underscored the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and the welfare of vulnerable populations through meaningful civil–military cooperation.
