CENTRAL TROOPS ORGANIZED A TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME

A tree planting programme was conducted at Security Forces Headquarters (Central) premises on 04 June 2018 in parallel with the World Environment Day and the National Tree Planting Week.

Planting trees has become a timely requirement due to the increasing deforestation. Further, it is the best measure which can be implemented to reduce the pollution of the environment. Aiming to achieve such objectives the National Tree Planting Week has been published from 30 May 2018 to 05 June 2018. During this week a huge number of trees are planted all over the island.

Accordingly, troops of Security Forces (Central) also organized a programme to plant trees in the headquarters premises in order to contribute to this national effort which would benefit present as well as the future generation. Moreover, it is intended to preserve the water recourses which are in risk at Diyatalawa and suburbs.

This precious effort was taken by the Central troops with the instructions and the participation of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG. Further, all the senior officers, officers as well as other ranks at the headquarters paid their fullest contribution for this programme.
