Upon the information on landslide risk in Maliththagolla area along the Ella-Wellawaya main road, troops of 112 Infantry Brigade under Security Force (Central) made quick initiatives to issue warning to the public to be vigilant when travelling along the Ella-Wellawaya main road on 26 November 2023.
Army troops were able to make aware the Badulla District Disaster Management Unit regarding the prevailing disaster risk in Karandagolla and Maliththagolla areas, as per the directions of higher headquarters. Senior Officers belongs to 112 Infantry Brigade and Security Force Headquarters (Central) along with troops headed towards the disaster prone area, and made adequate measures to caution the general public and make the public transport more vigilant.
The army initiatives assisted the Disaster Management Centre and Road Development Authority to apply appropriate precautions to maintain constant vehicular movements along the main road while issuing necessary warnings to the residents in the area. Sri Lanka Police members also joined in the operation and cooperated with army troops.
