As the health workers launched an island-wide strike action, it hampered the health sector and caused inconvenience to the general public on 16 January 2023.
Troops under Security Force (Central) who are prepared to assist the essential services during any disruption, made their way towards the hospitals located in Kandy, Matale, Nuwaraeliya, Badulla, Moneragala and Hambantota Districts in order to support the patients and emergency health services. The troops under Security Force Headquarters (Central) and other formations were guided to assist the health sector on the directives of Commander Security Force (Central).
