An awareness programme on Orchid framing was organized with the blessings of the comd of the Army by General Officer Commanding of 11 Division Major General A W M A W N Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc with the direction of Commander Security Forces (Cen) Maj Gen G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG in order to promote it as an income generating project for the people in the area. The programme was conducted on 25 February 2018 at the Art Gallery in Kandy mainly focusing the families of military personnel in Kandy District.
This Governor of Central Province Mrs Niluka Ekanayake, graze the occasion as the Chief Guest. Further, the participants were educated on different verities of Orchids by Mrs Champika Sudasinghe and lecture on fertilizer was conducted by Unipower (Pvt) Ltd. Further, the regional Development Bank of Kandy assure that there is a possibility of provide financial assistance to any family wish to start this projects as a self employment, 480 family members of Army and civil personnel participated in this programme.
