A bowser transporting 30,000 liters of diesel from Trincomalee to Haputale petroleum storage was veered off the road and toppled at Panketiya, Haputale on Monday morning, 11 July 2022. The scene was crowded with people who came to collect the split oil into cans and caused heavy traffic on the route.
The rescue teams of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers rushed to the spot with a short notice in order to support the civil authorities retrieving the toppled bowser. Troops’ effort was commended by all parties who witnessed the incident.
