ARMY ENSURE SAFETY AT RIDIYAGAMA SAFARI PARK AMIDST HEAVY SHOWERS

The 500 acres zoo, Ridiyagama Safari Park is a famous tourist destination in Hambanthota District. The park consists of 22 species of animals which mainly includes mammals and birds. Due to the dominant torrential rains in the area on 01 December 2023, 100 meters of the boundary wall of the park was toppled and the zone kept unsafe which could threaten both zoo animals and villagers.

On the earnest request made by the Safari Park authority, troops belongs to 12 Infantry Division rapidly responded to mend the broken wall. The army members including engineering troops made necessary initiatives to erect a solid boundary fence with the construction goods supplied by the zoo authority. Army's effort amidst the adverse weather conditions, were highly commended by the safari authority.
