Troops of 12 Infantry Division of the Security Force – Central in coordination with the Police assisted to provide security for the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Esala Perahera which was held from 06 July 2024 to 22 July 2024 in sacred Kataragama.
With the instruction of the Commander of the Army and direction of Major General PKWWMJSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding 12 Infantry Division and close supervision of Brigade Commanders and Battalion Commanders, the troops continuously facilitated devotees with security, medical aid and troops shoulder the main task of the Kataragama Devalaya Dansala, preparing three meals daily, for approximately 20000 devotees from 06 July 2024 to 21 July 2024.
