2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment is deployed at Periyakaddu in Wanni Theatre. The Battalion consists with tracked T 89 VP1 APCs /BMP MK II AFVs to secure and maintain the security in the area. The Battalion is performing duties under Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
