The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 16th anniversary on 11th February 2023 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP.
After receiving a Guard turnout, Colonel of the Regiment paid his tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument followed by attended a colourful military parade comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) . According to the day’s proceedings he attended for the planting of a sapling, Regimental council, All Ranks lunch hosted by the Regiment. Aftermath, The all-night pirith chanting was conducted on 11th evening with colorful Procession and followed by an alms giving in the following day morning to invoke blessings on the Regiment.
Align with the event proceedings a Dinner Night was held at the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess on 12th. As the Chief Guest the Colonel of the Regiment together with Council members including Brigade Commander, Centre Commandant, all Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors from Brigade, Training Center, all battalions, Senior Non-commissioned officers of the Regimental staff and cross section from each battalion attended for the event.
