OFFICIAL VISIT BY COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

The Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major General Channa Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu visited the Mechanized Infantry establishments on 26 and 27 March 2022.

On 26 March 2022 visited the Mechanized Infantry Brigade at Iyakkachchi and Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya RSP psc welcomed him upon arrival. Afterwards, he visited the 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment at Iyakkachchi with warm welcome by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Thilakaratne. Second half of the day, he visited the 5th (V) Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment at Pooneryn and he was welcomed by Commanding Officer, Major Jagath Dembatagahawaththa USP psc. During his visit to the 5th (V) Battalion vested newly constructed Warrant Officers & Sergeants accommodation.

On 27 March 2022 spared to visit Mechanized Infantry Training Centre at Periyakaddu, while greeting him a respectful welcome by the Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre, Colonel Koshina Peiris RSP. During the visit vested newly constructed welfare shop by Colonel of the Regiment. Subsequently, he was warmly received by the Commanding Officer of 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major Laxman Balasooriya RSP during the visit to the Battalion.

During his formal visit, addressed the troops and inspected respective establishments. Further, looked into the administrative matters along with infrastructure developments, operational and training aspects by witnessing the formal briefings by respective heads.

Centre Commandant, Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe RSP USP and several Other Senior Officers along with Staff Officers were also associated with the visit.
