NEW COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT ACCEPTS OFFICE

As the 13th Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major General Channa Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force assumed office on 21 December 2021 during a formal military ceremony.

Symbolizing of his formal acceptance of the new office, he left his signature in a formal document after religious observances. Centre Commandant, Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe RSP USP and Regimental Council Members, several Other Senior Officers along with Commanding Officers were also associated with the inauguration of the new office.

Upon his arrival into the Regimental Centre, he was greeted with a guard turn out and attended for the floral tribute for the fallen war heroes monument followed by he was presented with a guard of honour. Afterwards, he was invited for a planting a sapling before assuming duties and later he took the occasion to address the Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment.
