The official visit by Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC), 1st and 2nd Battalions of Mechanized Infantry Regiment was held on 16 & 17 December 2020.
On first day Mechanized Infantry Training Centre and 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment was visited. The Centre Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Colonel A M A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc - Commandant MITC, and Lieutenant Colonel K K G N N Kariyawasam USP - Commanding Officer of 2 MIR upon arrival at the entrance of 2 MIR and greeted with a guard turnout. Thereafter, group photograph and planting a sapling were arranged at the MITC premises. Formal briefing by the Commandant MITC, troops address and all ranks tea followed by camp visit were the main events of the day’s itinerary at the MITC. Next, the Centre Commandant moved to the 2 MIR and witnessed the comprehensive briefing by the Commanding Officer,2 MIR. The first day visit was concluded with camp visit followed by the lunch hosted by 2 MIR and signing of Visitors’ Book at the 2 MIR.
On second day, 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment was visited. During the arrival he was presented with a guard turnout. The formal briefing was conducted by Second In-Command. Thereafter, Centre Commandant was attended for the group photograph followed by troops address and planting a sapling. Finally, Centre Commandant was invited for the lunch arranged at the Officers’ Mess and the visit was concluded by keeping remarks on the Visitors’ Book.
