Farewell Ceremony for retiring Major General A D G N Jayasundera RWP RSP - Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment was held on 03 November 2020 at the Regimental Centre, Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
The retiring Colonel of the Regiment was warmly received upon his arrival by Brigadier L S Balachandra RSP – Overall Officer In-Charge of Nelum Pokuna Theatre along with Brigadier S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP - Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
The formal military ceremony was commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. After that, paid his tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument followed by attended the guard of honour, planting of a sapling ,troops address and all ranks tea.
Thereafter, Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment was participated in the formal dinner night hosted by the Regiment.
Following day after conveying best wishes for future prospects while keeping remarks on the Visitors Book, he was offered with salute by all Officers and Other Ranks in a street line and to appreciate the dedicated service rendered to the Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
