Major General AMSB Atapattu - Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment paid his first official visit to the 5th (V) Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 09 January 2020.
The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by Major M A W Hemantha Kumara USP MIR - Commanding Officer and invited Colonel of the Regiment to unveil the battalion name board at the main entrance. After that, a formal Guard Turnout was presented to the visiting Colonel of the Regiment.
Brigadier S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with Regimental Staff Officers accompanied the Colonel of the Regiment.
Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment was attended for Planting of Sapling, Opening of New Conference Hall followed by Commanding Officer was conducted the formal briefing. Further, Troops Address, Group Photograph, All Ranks Tea and Camp Visit were arranged.
At the latter part of the visit Colonel of the Regiment was invited to declare open the newly constructed Officers' Mess. Finally, all visiting Senior Officers were invited to the lunch hosted by the Commanding Officer and terminated the visit keeping worthy remarks on the Visitors' Book.
