The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 10th anniversary on 26th January 2016 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc.
The celebration was commenced with religious activities at Jaya Sri MahaBodhiya on 18th January.
The all-night pirith chanting was conducted on 20th evening with colourful Procession and followed by an alms giving in the following day morning to invoke blessings on the Regiment.
On 22nd was devoted for religious activities at Kataragama KiriVehera and Kataragama Devalaya. Other religious rituals were performed on 25 th at Roman Catholic Church-Wahakotte followed by Hindu and Islamic religious activities at Galewela Hindu Kovil and Puwakpitiya Mosque respectively.
Align with the event proceedings a Dinner Night was held at the Warrant Officers\' and Sergeants\' Mess on 24th. The Centre Commandant, Colonel H M U Herath RWP RSP psc attended for the event as the Chief Guest.
A Guard of Honour and colourful military parade comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) presented to the Colonel of the Regiment on 26th followed by the "All Ranks Lunch" Culminating the event proceedings a mega Musical Show with dancing session gave opportunity for All Ranks to entertain the session in the night.
