Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc assumed office as the 7th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 22 September 2016. The Colonel of the Regiment honoured with a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance of the Regimental Centre. At the auspicious time, Colonel of the Regiment placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the appointment in the presence of Centre Commandant, Brigade Commander, other senior officers, all Commanding Officers and staff of the Regimental Centre after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
The day\'s events also textured with the Parade presented in honour of him by the troops of Mechanized Infantry Regiment. He addressed all officers at the conference hall where he stressed the importance of training and significance of the discipline and soldiarity. Senior officers, officers and other ranks of the Regiment were presented to greet the Colonel of the Regiment.
