VISIT OF THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY

The Commander of the Army Lt Gen AWJC de Silva visited the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre on 26 August 2016. The Commander of the Army was warmly received by the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Kamal Gunaratne and Centre Commandant, Colonel Sujith Balachandra. A formal Guard Turnout and a colourful military parade presented by Mechanized Infantry troops along with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).

The Commander of the Army addressed all the officers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment and stressed on the importance of Mechanized Infantry Regiment in future and maintaining of highest standard of discipline.

The newly-constructed Non Commissioned Officers\' club, Library, Two-storied accommodation billet for Other Rankers, the new yard for ICVs and APCs, newly equipped Main Kitchen and Two-storied accommodation building for officers were ceremonially opened by the visiting Commander of the Army.

Finally, the Commander of the Army was hosted a gala lunch at the Officers\' Mess by the Colonel of the Regiment and all officers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment. Before the departure, the Commander of the Army signed the visitors\' book and the Colonel of the Regiment presented him with a plaque in memory of his visit to the Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
