The Sinhala-Hindu New Year Festival and all ranks family get-together held at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre on 20th April 2019. The Colonel of the Regiment, Brigadier A M S B Atapattu graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event was ceremonially declared open by lightening of the traditional oil lamp.
The event was organized under the close supervision of the Centre Commandant, Colonel S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP. The event included many varieties of traditional games and fun-making features in par with traditional customs which included Marathon, Tug of War, Raban-playing, pillow-fights, grease pole climbing, Beauty Queen Contest (Bakmaha Kumariya) and many more traditional games. As well as the traditional "Gemi Gedara" built in the premises was given more attraction to the event.
The event was graced with the presence of many Senior Officers, Officers and Other Rankers together with their family members.
