SECRETARY OF DEFENCE VISITS THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

The first visit of Major General G D H Kamal Gunaratne(Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil - Secretary of Defence to the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre was held on 23 August 2020 at Dambuluhalmillawewa.

During the visit,Secretary of Defence was greeted with a drive pass and a warm welcome by Major Genera lA G D N Jayasundera RWP RSP – Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment upon arrival near the entrance with military formalities.

Subsequently, he was ushered to grace with presence the day's apex, the floral tributeat the fallen War Heroes' Monument of Mechanized Infantry Regiment. Further, all together with commemorated its 56 Officers and 1325 Other Rankers who made the supreme sacrifice for safeguard the motherland.

Adding memories,during his distinguished history as the 6^th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment,it is commendable to recollect the first and ever produced guidance to create a War Heroes’ Monument in the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre.

Brigadier S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP – Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Senior Officers of the Regiment were present at the occasion.
