The official visit by Major General S S Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc - Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre and 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiments was held on 14 February 2021 after taking over the duties as 11th Colonel of the Regiment.
The first half of the day was scheduled to visit Mechanized Infantry Training Centre. The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by Colonel A M A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc – Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre upon arrival at the entrance and he was invited to appear for the group photograph and to declare open the newly constructed main gate by unveiling the plaque. After that, he was greeted with a guard turnout followed by formal briefing by the Commandant, camp visit, all ranks tea and planting of sapling.
Second half of the day was spared to visit 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Colonel of the Regiment was presented with a drive pass when his arrival. Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment was cordially invited for planting of sapling and for the group photograph. As per the programme, Colonel of the Regiment was participated in the camp visit followed by troops address together with troops of Mechanized Infantry Training Centre and 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
Finally, Colonel of the Regiment kept his worthy remarks on the visitors’ books of both the establishments to mark the visit.
Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Senior Officers of Regiment were presence at the occasion.
