OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT TO THE 2ND BATTALION MECHANIZED INFANTRY AND MECHANIZED INFANTRY TRAINING CENTRE

The first official visit by Major General A G D N Jayasundera RWP RSP - Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment to the 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Mechanized Infantry Training Centre was held on 27 February 2020.

The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel P I Punchihewa MIR - Commanding Officer by presenting a formal Guard Turnout. Brigadier S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment/ Overlooking Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade along with Regimental Staff Officers accompanied the Colonel of the Regiment.

Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment was invited for the planting of sapling and attended the formal briefing conducted by the Commanding Officer followed by camp visit and all ranks tea.

Second half of the programme, it was scheduled to visit the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre. At the entrance, visited Colonel of the Regiment and all other Senior Officers were cordially received by Colonel B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc - Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre.

Consequently, Colonel of the Regiment was attended for the planting of sapling, group photograph, Commandant's briefing, opening of new auditorium, camp visit, demonstration of the miniature firing range, troops address together with Officers & Other Ranks the 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Mechanized Infantry Training Centre.

Finally, all visiting Senior Officers were invited to the lunch hosted by the Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre and concluded the visit keeping praiseworthy remarks on the Visitors, Book.
