The Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival was Celebrated by the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre with participation of the residents of Dambulu Halmillawewa and neighbouring villagers at the Dambulu Halmillawewa School Ground on 24th April 2017. The event was sponsored by the Nestle Lanka Private Limited.
The event was a great success with the participation of staff of the Regimental Centre along with the residents of the Dambulu Halmillawewa village. Col HMU Herath RWP RSP psc, the Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event included many varieties of traditional games and fun-making features in par with traditional customs which included Marathon, Bicycle Race, Tug of War, Beauty Queen Contest (Bakmaha Kumariya) and many more traditional games.
The event was graced with the presence of many senior officers of the regiment including Commanding Officers of the Battalions and several civil distinguished guests in the areaThe event was culminated with a colourful musical show played by the regimental beat group.
