MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT GETS OWN HOLIDAY HOME AT DIYATALAWA

“Mech Breeze”', the newly constructed holiday home of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment in Diyatalawa was vested in the Mechanized Infantry family by General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on 17 July 2021 at the invitation of Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Commander Army Training Command, Major General Sena Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc.

This long felt need for members of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment consists of 6 luxury rooms with all modern furniture and facilities. The entire construction was completed by technically qualified own Mechanized Infantry troops and manpower utilizing regimental funds with the close supervision of Centre Commandant.

General Shavendra WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Silva Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on arrival was warmly welcomed by Major General Sena Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Major General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander, Security Forces (Central) and a representative gathering of Senior Officers.

Unveiling of a plaque that speaks of the saga connected to its construction by the Chief Guest followed the ceremonial opening of the new holiday home. The Chief Guest and Senior Officers afterwards had a close look inside the new state-of-the art holiday home and saw the surroundings around.

Mrs. Nelum Waduge, Chairperson and few senior members of Seva Vanitha Branch, Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe RSP USP - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre and Senior Officers including Council members, few officers and other ranks of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment graced the event by adhering to stipulated health guidelines.
