The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 11th anniversary day on 23rd February 2018 at the Regimental Centre under the close supervision of the Centre Commandant, Colonel H M U Herath RWP RSP USP psc.
The celebration was commenced with multi religious ceremonies in order to invoke blessings to the Regiment. Religious activities were commenced at Kataragama KiriVehera, Kataragama Devalaya, Dalada Maligawa and Jaya Sri MahaBodhiya. Afterwards, other religious rituals were performed at Roman Catholic Church-Wahakotte followed by Hindu and Islamic religious activities at Galewela Hindu Kovil and Puwakpitiya Mosque respectively.
The day Chief Guest, Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc honoured with the Guard Turnout and colourful Military Parade presented by Mechanized Infantry troops comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
Same day afternoon "All Ranks Lunch" held with the participation of Colonel of the Regiment, Council members and other senior officers. The day’s event was culminated with the mega Musical Show and All Ranks Get-together.
