THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY PRESERVES ITS VIGOR IN THE SECOND STAGE OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY FIELD FIRING OF ICV/APC

The Mechanized Infantry Training Centre conducted the second stage of its field firing on 30 November to 02 December 2021 at the Kalpitiya Air Force Field Firing Range. A total of 7 Officers and 83 Other Ranks, out of who followed various courses at the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre took part in the event and a total of 8 Infantry Combat Vehicles and Armored Personnel Carriers were employed for the event.

A team including Dr Chandana Perera from the Research Analysis Projection and Development Branch (RAP&DBr), who is in the research of developing the BMP MK 2 Driving and Gunner Simulator, attended the event to study the functions of the systems and sound effects of the ICV. Troops from Security Force Headquarters (West) took part to witness the event, and troops from the 6th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment attended to get the practical experience in sound simulation.

The event was conducted by the Chief Instructor of the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre, Major Emilson Hapukotuwa and the team of qualified Instructors under the supervision of the Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre, Colonel Koshina Peiris RSP ,under the directions of the Commander - Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Kavinda Balsooriya RSP psc, under the guidance, facilitation, commitment and initiative of the Director General General Staff of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment Major General Priyanka Fernando RWP USP.
