After assuming duties as the 15th Colonel of the Regiment of MIR, Major General HMU Herath RWP RSP VSV USP Hdmc psc, Commander 61 Infantry Division, marked the first official visit to the, 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 03 July 2023.
Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment Lieutenant Colonel DGJBP Dembatagahawaththa USP psc has warmly welcomed him during his visit. As the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment he addressed the troops of 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment and inquired into their administrative matters. He was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling at the Battalion Headquarters.
Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade - Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc and Commandant of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre - Brigadier A M A Abeyasinghe RWP RSP USP psc, along with other Staff Officers of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre were accompanied with Colonel of the Regiment.
