FAREWELL TO COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

A formal farewell ceremony for Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP VSV USP Hdmc psc was held on 12 August 2023 at the Regimental Centre, Mechanized Infantry Regiment - Dambuluhalmillawewa.

The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by Brigadier W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP - Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and Brigadier A M A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with Regimental Council Members.

The formal military farewell ceremony commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. He has paid tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument prior to commence the other formalities. After that, he was greeted by a Parade. He was handed over the duties at Colonel of the Regiment's office and attended to an all Ranks tea. The formal Dinner Night offered at the Officers' Mess, Dehippawa. Further, he kept his praiseworthy remarks on the Visitors’ Book on the following day morning.

Finally, after conveying best wishes by outgoing Colonel of the Regiment for future prospects of the Regiment, he was offered a salute by all Officers and Other Ranks in a street line to appreciate the dedicated service rendered as the 15th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
