The Mechanized Infantry Regiment bid farewell to outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc on 17 March 2018. Commencing with day's proceedings a Guard Turnout was presented in honour of outgoing Colonel of the Regiment. The Centre Commandant Colonel H MU Herath RWP RSP USP psc and the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade Colonel L S Balachandra RSP warmly welcomed the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment at the parade ground. A Guard of Honour was presented in honour of Colonel of the Regiment at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre parade ground by Mechanized Infantry troops comprises with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
After The Ceremonial parade the Colonel of the Regiment was invited to ceremonially open the newly constructed Guard Room at the Regimental Centre main entrance. Soon after the opening ceremony, he addressed all troops and Officers separately reminding them the importance of developing professional knowledge through training and commitment towards development of the regiment.
Finally, "Farewell Dinner" was hosted in respect of the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment and outgoing President of Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club Mrs. Thushari Kulatunga by all Officers with their spouses at the Mechanized Infantry Regiment Officers' Mess.
On 18th morning outgoing Colonel of the Regiment arrived to his office to officially handover the duties. Then Major General J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc move out from the regimental Centre on a WMZ 551 B Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) while blessing with "Jaya Sri" by Other Ranks who lined up in front of the Regimental Centre.
