EXERCISE - CORMORANT STRIKE IX - 2018

Exercise - Cormorant Strike IX - 2018, the multi-national Field Training Exercise (FTX), organized by the Sri Lanka Army, conducted for the 9th consecutive year with the participation of Sri Lankan Tri-Forces and foreign participants representing friendly foreign countries.

The Exercise was aimed to enhance the military cohesion, combat preparedness, operational readiness and efficiency of Special Operations Forces. 6 x 116 Mechanized Infantry troops along with ICVs actively took part in final mock operation. The induction and de-induction of the troops took place simultaneously as the most exiting accomplishments, technically identified as the 'Critical Engagement' of the Exercise at Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee where a simulated multi-pronged joint amphibious attack on enemy hideouts was carried out. It is a timely requirement to conduct joint military exercises which enhance the capacity and the dimensions of our troops when they mix and operate along with sister services.

The 'Cormorant Strike' is the largest joint field Exercise in the Sri Lanka which is conducted to maintain their highest physical efficiency and specialization in special operational tactics, techniques, procedures, and skills, to be employed for specialized tasks which may come in handy whenever the security of the country is threatened.
