The 5th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 14th anniversary on 01st June 2024 at the Battalion Headquarter in Mulankavil, Kilinochchi.
The anniversary programme began admitting with religious observances, specially at Pirith Chanting for blessing to the Battalion and all Ranks and commemorating past deaths and wounds of the battalion. Positioning the prominence to military traditions and customs, charm, Ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade presented to the Commanding Officer of 5(V) MIR, Lt Col K A K S Kodituwakku USP. Afterwards Commanding Officer addressed the troops and followed by saplings of plant, group photograph and a nicely arranged All Rank lunch. Then a friendly Cricket tournament was conducted to demonstrate the ability and to enhance the comradeship among the soldiers. Finally Bodhi Puja programme was held at the battalion temple to wind up the days' events.
