"Seva Vanitha Sri Lanka Light Infantry Branch" is a charitable organization with the main objective of providing welfare facilities to Sri Lanka Light Infantry War Heroes who sacrificed their lives or injured, their next of kin, serving Sri Lanka Light Infantry officers and men and their families. This ladies' organization functions under Seva Vanitha Sri Lanka Army Branch which is the umbrella organization for all military wives in the Sri Lanka Army.

This non-profit organization ever since its formation in the year 1990 at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Army Cantonment, Panagoda has tremendously contributed to the benefit of those Light Infantry War Heroes, their children, spouses and parents in need. For these benevolent aspirations to fulfill and make the lives of Light Infantrymen happy and less stressful, all Sri Lanka Light infantry ladies have organized together under its President Seva Vanitha Branch to launch multifaceted welfare projects.

Portfolio of Honourable Presidency of the Seva Vanitha Sri Lanka Light Infantry Branch (SV SLLI Branch) is always held technically by the wife of Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Present incumbent is Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, and she is the spouse of the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry Maj Gen YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry have always in the forefront in almost all battles fought to date in safeguarding National Interests and sovereignty of the Sri Lankan Nation ever since its inception what was then popularly referred to as Ceylon Light Infantry or CLI in abbreviated form in the pre-independence era and informally even to date. Sacrifices made by those Light Infantrymen throughout in their proud history to safeguard the sovereignty, independence and the unity of this Sri Lankan Nation are immeasurable. Four thousand more Sri Lanka Light Infantry War Heroes have sacrificed their precious lives to liberate the country from recent LTTE terrorism alone. More than Sixteen thousand of them have become disabled in their duty due to battlefield injuries in the aforesaid mission. This is just an iota of their dedication and commitment towards the Sri Lankan Nation.

Looking after the wellbeing of such dedicated men and their families to the best affordable capacity is a commitment that Sri Lanka Light Infantry ladies have under taken with much honour and pride.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry Branch for their generous obligation has implemented many projects over the years. It receives assistance from kind hearted donors in Sri Lanka and abroad to execute their charity work. The organization also coordinates donations of artificial limbs, arms, elbows, crutches, wheel chairs, blind aids, etc. in favour of those needy valiant men. Providing homes to homeless War Heroes, scholarships and educational assistance to their children, monetary assistance, empowering spouses to look after their loved husbands and families, etc are among the leading activities under taken by the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch as at present.

Donors have the option of contributing either cash or donating any of those equipment or medical accessories required to those War Heroes directly.

Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch looks forward to hear from generous donors and seek assistance from them to continue their benevolent multifaceted welfare projects in aid of Sri Lanka Light Infantry War Heroes who have sacrificed their today for the sake of all Sri Lankans' tomorrow.
